Pasadena may be a suburb to Los Angeles, but it is the "big city" for the San Gabriel Valley. It has very wealthy to quite poor areas and is the center of arts and culture for the area. Its public schools are - hopefully - beginning to come back, and some of its colleges are outstanding (Pasadena City College, Caltech, and Art Center). Pasadena's Old Town (along the west end of Colorado Boulevard) is a great place to walk and snack.

Pasadena Star-News The Pasadena Star-News is the local daily newspaper. We've found that while the Pasadena information you want is often there, it is sometimes hard to get to using the Star-News' search tool. If you have difficulties, try this Google tool. It will only search the Pasadena Star-News Web site.
