When a San Gabriel Valley resident thinks of a wealthy local city, San Marino is it. But this is not Beverly Hills wealth. There's nothing glitsy about it. This is conservative wealth. Large, tastefully elegant homes frequently set far back on immaculate lawns, that have, it is rumored, occasionally been mistaken for parks and used for picnics. This is a bedroom community, with, I understand, not a single apartment building in the city. Visiting? You must see the Huntington Library and Gardens. - Brad

San Marino Schools Academically superb, of course.
Lacy Park A beautiful park and a great place to take the kids.
The San Marino Tribune Quite a respectable small-town newspaper.
Pasadena Star-News The Star-News (the local daily newspaper) covers most of the West San Gabriel Valley, including San Marino. We've found that while the information you want is often there, it is sometimes hard to get to using the Star-News' search tool. If you have difficulties, try this Google tool. It will only search the Pasadena Star-News Web site.
